This commentary argues that despite the increasing speed of digital innovation, governments should invest in education and life programmes to fully reap the benefits of the digital economy. It based on the work conducted by the Ministry of Labour in Italy from 2014 to 2018 and in particular on the Italian contribution to the 100th anniversary of ILO at the G7 meeting of ministers of labour.
